About us
“Why Would a Singaporean Hang Out with an Immigrant?” We asked ourselves this question and designed Our Stories Beyond Borders as a human, honest answer. Not because they were told to. But because it felt real.
For many younger Singaporeans, diversity isn’t something to be taught - it’s something to be experienced. But meaningful experiences don’t happen through speeches or panel discussions. They happen through shared space, shared stories, and shared emotion.
This project isn’t a lecture on integration. It’s an invitation to curiosity.
Participants don’t “meet an immigrant.”
They meet a mother who moved here from Japan, who, like themselves, loves karaoke.
They don’t “befriend a foreigner.”
They laugh with someone who also grew up with ghost stories, just from a different part of the world.
We design these encounters so that Singaporeans don’t have to reach across a gulf. They just need to show up to a well-facilitated, low-pressure space, where belonging feels possible, and difference becomes discovery.
It’s not a programme. It’s a reason to stay a little longer, to listen a little deeper, and to say:
“I didn’t expect to connect. But I did.”
This is what integration looks like in a new Singapore.
